What can my Sis in long term care claim?

I'm only going by what happened when my mother was in a home (a few years ago mind) but she got an allowance -around 20 pounds a month I believe- for toiletries and such like. We used to use it to get her hair cut every 6 weeks or so, plus her deoderants etc. No doubt it might have changed now though.
She was in a lovely care home which was paid for by the local Social Services, which I think was peculiar to Scotland at that time, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
Sorry I'm not much help-but I wish you, your mother and sister all the luck in the world.Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

They couldn't or wouldn't name it. They did mention income support as a possibility and that it was around £19 ish that other patients claim.
Sazzybum - thats the kind of thing we would like to do for her. Although to be fair they did cut her hair as she hated having in brushed.:j0 -

Well its called a personal allowance and its £22.30 a week but its not a benefit as such. Its the responsibility of the local authority to claim not the family or claimant. It doesnt seem as if the care home will help so I rang the social worker and his assistant is kindly looking into it for me.
Ill keep this updated incase anyone has a similar unfortunate situation.
Thank you all for your help and time taken to read and respond.

Query about back dating as well, if it's down to the LA to claim, then they should have done so.
Good luck with it all.0
