I suggest you could also look into using the Thames clipper service to get from the London eye to the Tower - I think you can get all day 'river roamer' tickets as part of the 2-4-1 offers, and use the boats to travel all day, as far as the O2 - it's a good way to see a lot of the sights

    Hi

My boys are 12 and 10. We've been checking out the bus routes and they seem easy enough. I've heard about oyster cards but am unsure really about what they are and the price etc, anyone any advice on these, will they be worth it for us?

    thanks

Your younger boy will travel free on buses as long as he is with an adult

Your elder would need an 11-15 photocard to travel free - and you don't have time to get one. Best bet for him is an off peak day travelcard at £2 (or £3.60 peak)

The adults need a PAYG Oyster card each - it will get you much reduced bus fares capping at £3.90 a day. That's less than 2 bus rides at normal rates or 4 at Oyster rates. You can't actually load a bus pass on to one - just the cash equivalent.
  • leemina click on this link http://vlstatic.com/assets/maps/travel_maps/bus_map2010.pdf it should take you to a map showing some on of the main bus routes. It is on the Visit London website which i found more useful than the TFL one.
