Hi folks

I must have caught something (ie a button or similar)

When I start to log into my emails, ie start my user name in the long box, it pops up with a list of suggestions ie name I have put in previously or miss spelt.

How or where do I turn this off.? Please make any suggestions non teckkie, as I can do the basics but teckkie leaves me running cold.!!

My emails are on Aol.

Everything else is running as it should do.

Many thanks

Kaz

Are you using AOL's own browser software or some other browser to access your AOL mail? If the former, it's probably based on IE, and you just need to go to Tools, Options, Content and turn off autocomplete.

If some other browser, tell us which one and someone will know how.

Personally I like the feature, if you just want to get rid of the misspellings you can just hover over them in the list and hit your [del] key and it should delete them.

Alternatively if you open your setting up you should be able to find something like store emails/logins or autocomplete under privacy settings, which you should be able to turn off fairly easily.

OK miss spellings have gone, thanks for that, a useful trick. (I had tried right click, never thought of del button!!)

The name is still coming up, but now the miss spellings have gone, I can live with it. (I think)

In auto complete there are ticks in the following boxes,
    Address bar
    Browsing history
    Favorites
    Forms
Use names and passwords on forms.

Which of these do I need to un tick??

    Thanks

It depends how little help you want from your browser. If your concern is security (i.e. you don't want other users on that PC to be offered your login and other personal details) then untick the last two. If you don't like the feature at all, untick them all. Once you get used to it, you'll really miss it though!
