Anyone collect seeds from peppers, when is the best tme?
Now I love green peppers (sweet and hot) lol.
I have 4 plants in my garden that are fruiting really well, 2 hot and 2 sweet, that I just bought on a whim earlier on in the year from a garden centre. They weren't marked what type of variety it was but just chilli and pepper plants.
Turns out the sweet ones are just green, no red or yellow so I am well chuffed and want to collect some seeds.
Is it best o wait till the sweet one is really huge to collect them.
As for the hot one shall I leave a few to red and collect from that?

You leave the fruit until they are completely mature, whatever colour that may be. I like to leave my seed ones on a little longer than normal, till they are a little soft, just to make sure that they are definitely mature.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Woooow, just a quick thing here, as I may have been a bit of an idiot, these green sweet peppers I got, will they go red too if I leave them on the plant?0

As you have sweet & chili peppers in close proximity the bees / hoverflies will have cross pollinated them
You may not get sweet peppers from the seed you collect, you may get large chillies,, or small sweet ones, or Heaven knows what mix
Go to Wilikinson's and buy a packet of reduced by 75% pepper seeds
Or be prepared to be disappointed in 2011When an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
