This may be the saddest thread I have ever posted on MSE
Looking for ways to cut the grocery bill such as downshifting brands.
DH and I always drink Yorkshire Tea (its like tea used to be
and I thought of downshifting to a supermarket own brand but then realised I always get 2 mugs of tea out of each Yorkshire teabag.
do other brands of tea stretch like this or do you have to use 1 bag per mug?

Hello!
I buy Asda's own (not basics) Decaf tea and i could only make one cup out of it but i do find in general decaf tea bags aren't as strong so it could just be that but i would imagine the cheaper brands, as a rule, would be weaker.
Maybe just try a small 40 bag box and see how you get on?0 -
One.
Yorkshire Tea.
I'm sorry but I'd rather starve than have a no/bad cups of tea.Two thumbs fresh!:money:0 -
I find Yorkshire Tea quite vile, but to each their own, hence why you really need to do a little trial an error. Avoid the "Value" versions of supermarket labels, they're barely strong enough to make one cup, never mind two
I use Tesco premium tea, makes a nice cup, and may stretch to two if you brew it a little longer in the second mug. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

I normally buy the Twinings Everyday tea, but the Sainsburys Value Fairtrade bags are actually quite nice too - I tend to buy them when Twinings aren't on offer
OP - I can only get one cup out of a tea bag too, although I sometimes use the teapot and will refill that up one more time."A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

I use Tetley Tea Bags, but only buy when there are 50% free etc. I use a teapot and put one teabag in. It always makes two good sized mugs. Don't forget that tea should have time to brew. When you make it in a mug its more a dip in, waggle it, drag it out kind of thing. You get the colour of a cup of tea but it doesnt always taste like a cup of tea should. I am from Yorkshire for what its worth and I do like my cuppa! We have lovely soft water and I think that can have an impact on the taste.:hello:  please play nicely children !0

I only ever use one bag for one cup, use Sainsbury Value tea bags - used to be a PG Tips fan until I worked out how much I was paying! Tried Tesco Value, no good, but the Sainsbury ones are very good and so cheap I do not have to bother about getting more than one cup out of them. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

One bag = one Cup Can't scrimp on tea
How many cups to you make at a time? is it worth making a pot but then i work on the one per person & one for the pot rule so you won't really save anythere unless you have a couple of cups each0 -
One bag , one cup usually.
I do love Yorkshire and swore by it for years but recently have been using Tetley - the ones with the drawstring one.
Approved Foods have been doing them cheaply so I thought what have I got to lose by trying them, and they're nice and strong so I'll get them till AF runs out :cool:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I actually tried making a second cup of tea last week using Asda's own teabags and it wasn't nice! I do like my tea strong though and usually leave the bag in for at least a few minutes so if you don't like your tea very strong, they may work. They are nice teabags though, but one per cup.
I'm like someone above, i'd rather have tea than food
