2 problems in 2 days lol what a week.
Basically I have a BT line had no end of issues for the 4 years I have been with them, with one error or another on pretty much every bill.
This time its my fault or at least the banks fault as its the first time a direct debit has come out and for some reason it bounced but BT never contacted me by post to tell me of this.
I was away for 4 days but didnt use the phone for another 2 days and was woken up Monday morning by about 5 calls which werent quick ones that hung up but rang and rang for as much as 5 minutes(must of been automated calls) so had a bad nights sleep.
I found out that the direct debit didnt go through and BT are charging me £10, so I contacted head office to complain and they are refusing to remove the £10 because they say its my fault!
However I think they should remove it because they havent sent me reminders or bills (I have online and offline billing) and they have been sending the reminders to my old address which is why I didnt get them plus the online billing has convieniently stopped working.
All I want to do is get this £10 removed, as sure it was "my fault" but they made it impossible for me to know this or get it sorted before disconnecting me.

Technically it was your fault. Letters telling you you have bounced a DD are a courtesy not policy. You need to look at why the DD bounced if it was a bank error then fight them for the £10 refund. You say it was the banks fault so why should BT pay for that as by bouncing the DD they incurred more administration costs so are within rights to charge you for this.
If i was you I would be checking your bank to make sure it doesnt happen again and I bet you your bank charged you far more for a bounced DD.0 -
