                    Hi
Installed a wireless modem, but use the main computer via the hard-wired connection. The problem I have is, there are many sites that I just cannot access now, and these are ones that should not be a problem at all, for example I cannot get to halifax.co.uk - at any time night or day, the page will time out. On the other hand I am fine with other sites. Has anyone an idea as to why it is doing this???

can you start, run, cmd
ping https://www.halifax.co.uk
ping 62.172.104.78
Do you have good av and antispyware software installed.
different point, but have you encrypted your wireless network?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

Enter 212.140.245.97 in your browser address bar and see if it opens the Halifax website. That will help indicate whether or not you have a DNS problem.

I used to have a USB modem and that was fine, since changing this problem has started. I will go back to the shop and ask... I bought locally from an independant computer store so I reckon they will sort me out.0
