Looking for a credit card terminal with no landline.. what are my options?

Options
Hi all,

I work for a charity called Pembrokeshire FRAME and we have recently opened a horticultural retail outlet.

We have no landline so we need some sort of GPRS card reader for as cheap as possible. Because of its location and business type I cannot see the Amount of transactions to be too high so would like something with no minimum billing?

Any help appriciated

Chris

  • Can you access the internet via mobile/dongles? Paypal offer a business tariff that allows you to process cards on-line - Works out MUCH cheaper than the £25 pound average per month for the terminal, plus the £25 per month average for a merchant account.

    try this company...123send
    airkooldomestics dot co dot uk
  • Has anyone used Adelante? (dot co dot uk) They charge £250 for:

    6 months rental,
    Set up fees
    And the merchant account!

    Then its £25 a month.

The merchant fees are 1.7% Credit Card and 27p Debit card with NO minimum fee (most are £20)

The merchant bank they want to use is the 'Allied Irish Bank' Personally I have never hered of it, is it trusted?

Can anyone see any hidden costs I havent concidered?

    Thanks very much

I don't think so: they operate in this country under our tax / legal regime AFAIK, eg Santander are Spanish.

for a credit card service, can't see that you'd notice a difference. For a bank, your deposits might not be protected as they would with a UK bank, witness the Icelandic debacle.

If you're taking out a lease where an Irish bank is involved, it gets a little tedious, but that's not what you're doing.

This is outside my comfort zone, so someone else may say I'm wrong. Someone else may be using Adelante with no problems, I'd search this forum for that specifically.
