Our Asda sell them, but I think they were smewhere daft like the home & leisure dept, with the machines and not in the drinks aisle where you'd think!

Saw them in Hannah & Brown in Lisburn - Northern Ireland. This is a family run store and they stocked the concentrates in the same department they sell electrical goods - ie the soda streams, kettles toasters etc. So might be worth while trying that kind of smaller retail business instead of the big well known ones.

Yes the concentrate is very thick. In the Sodastream method of operation the concentrate is added after the fizzing process (adding before would cause disaster) into one of the carbonating bottles, the top is put on firmly then the bottle is gently rocked back and forth to mix the concentrate into the fizzy water.... then you open the bottle carefully!

So do you think it would work well enough with soda water? Wouldn't all the bubbles dissapear??

And in your opinion how well does the tonic taste in comparison with main brand tonic?

I don't drink tonic myself, but my OH likes G&T and the main brand tonic is quite expensive and dissapears really quickly!!

The concentrates tasted great the last time I was able to get them - and the great advantage over the flavoured drinks you buy is that you can add the amount of flavour that suits you best.

What I understand pubs get up to with their on-tap mixers and soft drinks is that the added concentrate "volume" control gets turned down so they can save on the stuff.

Using fizzy water would do OK instead provided you mixed up the water and concentrate in a separate bottle and didn't let the 2 litre bottle of fizzy water go flat! It would be best to get some Sodastream bottles for that - car boot sales often have them.

But I'm sticking to the Sodastream - I think they are great and with them you don't get half finished bottles going flat in the fridge - you just make what you need at the time.

ps. if anyone has seen the Sodastream concentrates at a shop in West London please post back or send me a PM.
    Thanks. R

My local Comet sells them - only the popular flavours though like Coke, Lemonade, Orange, Lemon & Lime... or they to the 'taster' which is a mixture of flavours in mini bottles for about £10.

I did place an order through the Sodastream website a couple of weeks ago... the flavours were on 3 for 2, the saving basically paid for the delivery charges!

They were delivered really quickly too (within two days, by courier)!

I'm not sure if the 3 for 2 offer is still on - well worth checking if you are looking for some new flavours!

Go to http://www.sodastream.co.uk/gbretail/StoreLocator.aspx and you can look up your nearest stockist. Like others, I've been looking for tonic concentrate for ages and have only been able to find it in huge quantity or at excessive delivery charges.
  • The Range sell them too.
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

Comet have all the flavours, even diet ones, 2.99 each.

Our Tesco just started stocking the concentrates. Remember, it's only just made a come back, so it will take a little while for the concentrates to become wide spread.

Still much cheaper to use bottles of value sparkling water though. Sodastream was always an expensive con, probably why people eventually consigned them to the attics in the first place.

is this not why they disappered years ago?
  • These are now on offer at Comet at 4 for the price of 3 (buy 3 get one free). The offer is not aways advertised in store & isn't mentioned on their website.

They have 4 flavours Cola, Diet Cola, Lemon & Lime, and orange. They work out at £2.24 each & you can check stock & reserve on-line (order 4) - just mention about the offer when you collect & they'll knock the money off. :j

Comet also do the new 60l gas cylinder exchanges, these are sometimes not visable on display - phone the branch before you go, because you can't reserve gas cylinders on-line.
