Well BCE arose exactly because we were feed livestock other livestock.

    Pigs are omnivores.

Cows, sheep, deer etc are herbivores. The BSE problem arose due to feeding herbivores dead animals i.e. themselves.

Going back to the OP, it's clearly daft that food waste is not collected weekly. A small amount of food waste is almost unavoidable.

Not referring to the OP, its also daft that food is cooked and left partly uneaten, or not used at all, so needing to be binned and collected. I also have issues with collection of green waste which could be home composted by most households.

There is an element of out-of-sight, out-of-mind thinking, that means we can ignore the impact of our activities by passing on the problem to the local council when the true problem lies with ourselves.
  • I put all waste which I can't compost in my green bin. Our green bins get collected once a fortnight and I sometimes find maggots in the green bin.

It's a bin, and as long as they still come and collect it, I don't stress over it.

Pity they stopped the old system where pigs recycled all the waste food but the bse scare put paid to that. Now the threat is over they should be allowed to again instead of feeding concentrates etc.
I remember the old pig bins outside the canteen of my school. I bet the school throws away loads of food waste now, that would once have been used. We haven't gone forward much have we? :)
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
