all i have is an emachines restore cd with two options
-restore windows xp

Click here for instructions on how to fix this issue.
Once you've got Windows back up and running again, immediately back up your important files. From my own experience, the cause of this issue is often unknown but has a tendancy to reappear again and again.

How to fix it here.
If you don't have a Windows XP instal CD-ROM, you'll need to get hold of a Windows 98 or ME boot diskette. See bottom of link for how to use this.
