Trouble opening some websites

Hi, I recently had a guy install wireless and everything worked fine. He came back the other day to network files, printers etc, and again this works fine. The problem is since the networking, I now can't open some websites i.e. MSN and others on either the desktop or laptop. Other sites i.e. this one, open up normally.
Don't know if these are connected but wonder if he has changed some settings/preferances etc when setting up the networking. I will get him back if need be, however, just wondering if there was a simple solution.
Finally the speed is pretty slow (400mps) instead of 1mb. Is this down to wireless or is it a setting issue?
Thanks, David

Wireless and any type of network is faster than the internet.
Are you with AOL???
Is it ALL websites, or just some in particular, eg, secure sites?0 -

No not with AOL, with TalkTalk. It may just be secure sites, for example I can't get into my Hotmail account but can get into many others.0 -
Did he encrypt the network?
you could try reducing the MTU setting on the router to 1400, but it may make no difference.
Did he install any firewall software at the same time?
