Can I swap a SKY+ box with a Sky digi box?

Hi Guys please help me as I know I will get baffled if I try to phone Sky to ask them this questions.

We have Sky multi rooms with a Sky+ box upstairs and the old sky Digital box downstairs and I now want to swap them.

I thought this would be easy by the Sky cable that feeds the Sky+ box has two connections Dish input 1 and dish input 2 both female and the old Sky Digi only has one. As the cable comes straight into the house from the satellite I cannot swap those so is there an adaptor I can buy or am I stuffed and need to upgrade to Sky+ on both and get a new box.

Many many thanks I would really appreciate any help.

  • SKY+ needs 2 cables connected to the satellite dish
    SKY just needs one.

The Satellite dish has a small box in it ( called an LNB ).
It has 4 connectors in there - you have already used 3 of them.
    So you have one spare.

You just need some satellite cable to connect to the spare port on the LNB and run the cable to where your SKY box is.

If you don't feel comfortable with doing it yourself - any TV aerial company will easily do it for around £35-40.

Once you have the 2 cables in each room - you can swap the boxes over.

    Does this make sense

Thank you very much Troubleatmill I am so pleased it can be done but I think I will need someone in to do it for us as we are not that techie.

Update: Called Sky they will install a new Sky+ box for £99 (no change in monthly subscribtion) and do all the cables at the same time. My Digi box was getting old so I am not too unhappy about the outcome.
