Hi, I have had a couple of quotes now to re-lay our pitched stone tile roof (its very old, uneven, broken/shaled tiles). Its just on a mid terrace cottage so the area is not huge, but will require the replacement of quite a few stone tiles (they are the thick ones - must be half inch or more) and the good ones will be cleaned and reused. Scaffolding to front and back of the house, new felt and battons etc. They said its about a weeks work. Quotes have been 3000-3500 + vat - does that sound reasonable? I could get one more quote to verify its about the right figure but quite a few havent turned up to look at the job so it takes quite a while to get another quote!

Those quotes sound about right.
Ensure that they are quoting for the same thing/specification, and also check if gutters/fascias soffits need doing too
Depending on the amount of tile re-use, it might be worth agreeing if quotes are the same no matter how many new tiles are used (may be less incentive to replace old tiles) or itemising costs based on pro-rata use of new tiles
If possible, move any existing good tiles to the front (or sheltered side), and use new ones on the back/exposed side - but only if there are enough old tiles to do all of one side0
