HP Mini 110 help needed please

I was on facebook when my netbook just went black. I left it for a while to see if anything would happen. The lights were still on the front showing it was actually on.

I turned it off, pressing and holding the power switch.

I left it a while then turned it on again and got this message:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
to fix it:
1 insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer
2 choose your language settings then click next
3 click repair your computer
if you do not have the disk contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer
file: \Boot\BC
status: 0xc000000d
info: the windows boot configuration data file is missing required information

What should I do now?
I havent got recovery disks and after searching on google I am getting conflicting information.

Should I press F9 or F10 or F11?
Should I just order a set of the recovery disk from Hp at £32?

When a computer is reset to factory settings what exactly will I lose? My computer was set to back up all files every week- it ran this morning. Will I just have to download Microsoft Word again and then re-set up my wireless internet connection? Will it still have Windows starter on or will that be lost?

Sorry if I am asking stupid questions but I am not computer technical at all and Im really stressed out about this and worried my computer is seriously broken.

Thank you for your time

sounds like a corrupted driver for starters, try booting into safe mode (press F8 before windows starts), if that fails to work then either windows itself has corrupted or your hard drive is damaged. What version of windows was on it?

rather than buy a disc from hp, ask around for anyone with a copy of windows 7 on disc - you can use that to repair your version of 7

Pressing F8 does no harm at all. Just loads windows without 3rd party drivers to work around any corruptions.

As an afterthought, when you hit F8 you get a menu choice - if Safe Mode fails to boot, try again with Last known Good Configuration.

A full on copy of Windows 7 or is there a starter version?

What do I do with it- will it automatically run itself? do I need to be in a certain screen before I put the cd in?

Is this something that is easily fixed or is it going to cost me money and my files?

    Sorry for all the questions!
    Really appreciate your help..... :)

If you try the F8 options as above, you might not even need the CD.

If you do need it, first enter your netbook setup at boot (f10 for HP's? I forget) - set your boot device list to CD drive 1st
Reboot the netbook with the disc in the drive, (yes you can use any win7 cd apart from 64bit standalone) and go through the prompts as if you were installing 7. At about the 3rd prompt, you will see a 'repair my computer' button

Tried F8 but it wont do anything.

If I press return it takes to to the Hp screen with the option of pressing F9=Change boot device order or F10= BIOS set up options

you need to (gently) hammer the f8 button just before the HP logo gets replaced by the windows boot screen
