Off to Cardiff in a few weeks so could someone please let me know how much it costs to go across the road bridge from Bristol? (Is it called the Clifton suspension)? Do you have to pay both ways?

Travelling from England to Wales on the M4, via the new Severn Bridge - went over it the previous Sunday £5.50 NB no cards. But there is no charge for the return journey.
At the first bridge (Chepstow) you pay before you cross - on the English end, whilst on the second you cross-over first before paying.
And no it is not called the Clifton - that is in Bristol.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
£5.50....:eek:wont moan about price to cross the Tamar again!0

If you have a blue disabled badge holder in the car it is free. You drive up to a manned booth, they give you a form for the badgeholder to sign and then the barrier goes up.
I'm not sure why this is. It is possible to walk or cycle over the old bridge to Chepstow but it is a long way!0 -
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is across the Avon near Bristol - it's worth a visit if you have time. Toll is 50p each way.

But it's out of your way going to Cardiff from Cornwall0 -
I don't understand why ANYONE would pay £5.50 to get IN to Wales - out of Wales maybe.0

This is what I was going to say.NB no cards.
I got caught out by this last year. Had to fill in a form and pay by cheque in the post - cost pretty much twice the price! Was well gutted.
Also note that the signs to the last service station before the bridge weren't overly clear, so I'd suggest having cash before you leave.0
