Hi
I submitted the first letter to egg last week regarding the mis-selling of my PPI and they have sent the following response. My queston is do I pursue this - are they just trying to fob me off - or do I leave it:-
"After carrying out a full review of your account, our records indicate that you purchased the insurance through th egg website on 9 december 2001.
Our online sales process-
Does not require you to take repayment protection insurance as a condition of obtaining the credit card
Does not provide an advisory service
Required you to positively confirm that you wished to purchase this policy during the online application
Provided full terms and conditions of the policy and requested you to read them before submitting
We have attached a copy of your application which has a box lablelled "payment protection" - as you positively confirmed that you wished to purchase the policy the box is populated "accident, sickness, unemployment and Life"

What does everybody think - do I follow it up or is it a lost cause?
Many thanks

Hi there
I do know that it more difficult for online applications, but depending on your reasons, you can still be successful.
This may not have happened with all online applications, but it have been known that some online applications did not allow to go any further with the application - unless you accepted the ppi.
Not sure if this applies to you or not, but you can always send them another letter to ask them to re-investigate with the reasons you have.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Mine was an online app
I stated the following:-
You have been fined by the FSA for failing to treat your customers fairly when selling Payment Protection Insurance and I do not believe that my policy was sold in my best interests. I was not made aware that there are alternatives available to me, of which could have been cheaper and possibly offered other benefits.
I thought that protecting payments was part of the process, as the wording used implied as such and never advised it was an extra or that the alternatives were available.
I got a letter back with an offer in less than two weeks after sending the questionaire to egg.. good luck0 -
Many thanks for your input - Im going to chase this up
