Negotiating mortgage payment holiday

There's a sticky thread about it on the DFW forum. Basically it's just a list of incoming and outgoing money - how much you earn (and where it comes from), and where its spent.
I include the "where it comes from" because there's a whole host of benefits out there that some people are entitled to. I don't have the first idea on those, but there people that know their onions and should be able to help you out.0 -
just write in here
details of income
details of spending
details of debts and monthly payments
some details of your situation, OH, any children
value of house and size of mortgage0 -
With a debt mgmt company every penny is looked at - as stated above I'm creating space by using advice from the forums by changing Ins companies, haggling & getting reductions from Sky etc, however its not enough to do the xmas thing.
Off to think again & look serously at 2nd income for me & the one who must be obeyed
TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENDITURE £3,600.08
TOTAL MONTHLY INCOME £3,775.53
Payment to Debt mgmt company for creditors £175.45
Above calculated using MSE budget spreadsheetMAC

I know Christmas is VERY important for the family, but you do not have to spend loads to make it great.
We never had any money when I was a kid, but Christmas was brilliant as my Dad used to make it so. He used to organise a hidden treasure every year and we got little cheap presents at the end of it, but just finding them with all the family joining in to help, was all the fun.
PM me if you need any more info on this.
I know it is easy to spend money on your children, but your home is much more important than a few extra presents.
Good luck0 -
When I was skint a few years ago I found work in a hotel over Xmas. Loads of company Xmas parties means they are often short-staffed. I went round the hotels at the beginning of December and had a few different offers. It was knackering to be honest, but it did pay for the presents without me going overdrawn.
One lady asked me why I was working that night, and I said to pay for my family's Xmas. She gave me a tenner. There are quite a few tips to be had doing bar work.
I know it's not for everyone, but it is 100% better than getting deeper in debt.
Thankfully I am back earning good money again but that dose of redundancy taught me to count my blessings, and to feel for all those struggling to keep their heads above water.0 -

who are you doing a DMP with? and how much are they charging you?0 -
Clapton - DMP is with Spectrum but have contacted Payplan. I basically have 3 options
Find 300-400pcm for an IVA - can't afford that
Go bankrupt & lose my house - making family homeless
Continue with DMP & be debt free in 27 yrs
Going to look for 2nd job - only option
Tks agin for all adviceMAC

for what it's worth, I would much rather have a roof over my head than an expensive gift from the hubby at Xmas! we also usually agree a spending limit with the rest of the family - it makes you more creative at present buying aswell!0

No the other thing you can do is stuick your SOA up here.
I saved about 200 a month off my SOA when I first joined, which has negated me getting a second job. No point in getting a second job, if you are not fully in control of where the money is going
good luck x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
