Picked up a soft close toilet seat in Homebase yesterday on offer half price to £14.99.
Wanted one of these for ages but cheapest I have seen is about £25 + delivery.
They also had faux leather gas lift bar stools half price to £24.99

This item is available to view on the Homobase website and strangely gets pretty poor reviews.
IMHO the quality seems pretty darn good, soft close function works really well and most importantly, is about half the price of similar products available delivered online.
Only time will tell I guess.
My OH has even had a couple of dumps on it and said it is a very good seat.
BTW we have a modern Roca toilet. Fitting was a piece of pi55 with enough adjustment for our latrine. Not a lot of movement forward and backward for older releasing thrones.
VGVFM IMHO - cheers!!0 -
only problem I've found with soft close seats is when you use someone elses loo and drop their seat expecting it to close gently......only for it to smack the pan with a thundering bang lmao0

This is bizarre because I am planning on e-mailing Bemis, the manufacturers of 2 of our toilet seats as they are the second lot we have had that the fittings are useless, resulting in a slipping seat every time you sit on it!! HOWEVER.... the seat in en-suite is this soft closing one and tbh is the only seat worth sitting on in our house!! Yes it is a pain slightly when someone has closed the lid as it does seem to need a bit of pressure initially to keep the lid up, but a small price to pay for the pleasure of not having your bum nipped!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

lol @
Never had the pleasure of one before but can see this happening to me in the future. So you are saying that when round others this could actually create more noise because you forget? Yes - I really am that dumb too!!
My old seat was a Roca one that came with the toilet but it never really fit but I made do. Always wanted a soft close one but couldn't justify spending £30 on a bog seat.
At £15 I am very pleased with this one (so far) !!0 -
There are 2 versions available for this price - 'anti-bacterial' which i guess is plastic or wood. The wooden one gets slightly better reviews.

thanks for posting as I'm after one of these. They do them in Argos but I think they're £19.99?0 -

Argos and Homebase are owned by the same "umbrella" group. Can't remember the name. Think they only had plastic ones in our local Homebase.
The one we picked up actually looks different to the one in the link - you cannot see the hinges on ours.
Pleased to have helped someone - cheers.0 -

Ohh yes. Public loo's are worse hehe
we had ours from B&Q, it wasnt expensive, certainly no more than £15 but it was a year or two ago. As an aside, I went into B&Q a few months ago and they were on offer, I instantly noticed the packaging and it made me laugh so much I photographed it....
Seems to say "lets go sit on the bathroom floor and play with the toilet germs!"
Made me lol anyway0 -
This must be the one you bought;

Hi All,
I bought 2 of these, as replacements & ended up taking one back for a refund! Neither fitted the loo & tend to close before you are finishedIf you know what I mean! The men in the house cant use the loo with the seat up as it won't stay up! Sometimes you put the lid up only to turn around to sit down & voila the lids down & beats you to it! Its the worse purchase I have made from Homebase & I wouldn't recommend!
Dx****Everything comes to those who wait......it just seems like I have been waiting forever!****0 -
I'v had one of these for about 3 weeks, and it was in the sale then. Soft close function is good, stops people slamming down lid in the night! However one of the "end bits" at the top keeps coming off and it seemed a bit difficult for OH to fit.0
