Connecting a wireless laptop to a Talk Talk Broadband connection

I'm staying with my parents who have a (wired) Talk Talk Broadband connection. I am trying to conect my wireless enabled laptop. I brought an ethernet cable thinking I could plug it in to the router but they only have a speedtouch 330 box which has the old style phone cable connected to its back and then into the wall, no where to plug my ethernet cable. I have tried taking this cable from the 330 and plugging it into my laptop, but LP doesn't find any connection this way. Can anyone advise me on how I can connect my LT?
Thanks!
Thanks!

you need to enable ICS (internet connection sharing) on the PC - but the pc will either need a wireless card/hub or you'll need to buy a crossover cable from a pc shop to physically link the lappy to the pc (and spare network card in the pc).
Easier to phone talktalk and complain you need a router upgrade.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer

You'd have to install the TT software on your laptop, enter your parents' username and password and connect the Speedtouch modem to your laptop. That modem doesn't have wireless capability.Offical MSE Fantasy League Member :footie:0

the router should have a lead that goes to the existing pc just un plug it from there computer plug it into the ethernet port on your laptop and then just double click on internet explorer and away you go.

Hi Tashap,
The Speedtouch modem is USB only so you would also require the drivers for this modem on your laptop for this to function.
Alternatively if you replace the modem with a wireless router this will resolve your issues.
