Why disclose tht you have a shotgun to your LL? Surely that is advertising your possession and dilutes the point of a secure hidden firearms cabinet.
Because of the necessity to secure the cabinet to a brick wall at the LLs property, which has already been highlighted.

The OP has a sensible outlook on the issue.
  • Ahh tbs624...... if you would like to point out the section of the act that REQUIRES you to bolt a gun cabinet to a brick wall I would be most grateful.

The advice from the Home Office is that it should be wherever possible, but putting it in the loft certainly fulfils the other criteria that the Home Office advises.

With regard to whether a shotgun certificate guarantees someone that someone will pay the rent. Of course it doesn't. What it does do is add to the picture of the tenant.
Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%

Wherever it is put ( on the advice of the police) the T needs the LLs consent to screw holes in to the propertyand would therefore need to discuss it with the LL

.. and yet your previous post asserted:
To be honest, although I'm not a LL, I have done a lot of work for them, and someone with a shotgun license would have been police checked, and therefore a LOT less likely to be a dodgy character and damage my property/not pay the rent.

The safe can be fitted to the rafters In most cases but a solid upstairs wall is prefered, it's down to the indervidual FEO he/she has the final say.

I guess having the license won't hurt when a LL considers me for a let, it will proove I have no criminal record, as soon as a licence holder steps out of line even before going to court there guns are taken and licence revoked..
  • A friend of mine had a firearms license.
I use the words had because his new LL wouldn't allow him to store the guns in cabinet when he moved.
He's gone back to air rifles and since being out of the game for many years has been pleasantly surprised with the capability of newer gear.
    He shoots vermin on farms.
Now the guns don't need to be locked up in the house.
Seems a bit short sighted but peole make assumptions and gun owners unfortunately in this country are seen by many to be a bit wierd for wanting them.
