Laptop battery or charger problem?

Hello, I've had a Fujitsu laptop for around 4 years & recently when I charge the battery, although its taking a charge, when full the power only lasts for around 25-30 minutes. I guess this is likely to be the battery? but just wondered whether it could be the charger unit? Any ideas welcome please. thanks

Nah, wouldn't be the charger. If the battery is saying it's full then it's the battery. More likely the charger if it wasn't picking up a charge.

Just google the laptop battery and I'm sure you'll find one at a reasonable price.

Probably is the battery, 4 years life out of a laptop is about what they can last now, I think most have something like a 50-70% failure rate within 2.

The most obvious test would be to try the laptop with a different battery, it's hard to know what that might cost. I would do a google search for your product code and see if you can find any shops selling your battery. Often with old stock like that, it costs a fair bit for companies to dispose of and costs them a fair bit to keep it, so you may find them selling very cheap. I remember getting a new phone battery for a 4/5 year old phone for £1 + postage.

As for the charger, I don't think that would limit the amount of charge the battery could take.

I have got exactly the same issue with my dell, but only 2.5 years old ( and with a three year warranty, that they say isn't covered.)

Dell wanted £120 for a new one but got a 9 cell one on ebay for £35 ( not arrived yet)

Batteries have a finite lifespan, so Dell only warrant them for 1 year.
