Beware ASDA cat play tunnel !

We got one of these for our kitten last week. He loves it !!!
But after playing manically with it for a good 30mins, he suddenly went very quiet. Upon investiagtion the two pieces of elastic (with balls on the end) had become entwined around his neck
we freed him and removed one of the balls, and have let him have it back now, as there is no further danger to him
have emailed asda / the manufacturer to warn them about this, but have received nothing back from them at all
So just a warning to anyone with one / thinking of getting one
Its a great (cheap) toy, but make sure you remove one of teh balls - dread to think how bad this could have been if we were not about !

Glad to hear your kitten is OK.
This is very dangerous, I hope ASDA take notice of this and if they don't answer your email I think you should send another to chase them up.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
Don't let Asda fob you off - this is a serious issue that could have had devastating consequences for you and your kitten. Give them a week or two and if you've heard nothing from them, email or write to them again and make sure they know that you are awaiting their aknowledgement of the problem. I had to do this a while back with Sainsbury's. It took them about a month but they did actually get back to me and the outcome to my complaint was very satisfactory."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

R.i.P our beautiful girl Suki. We'll love and miss you forever

it could have indeed been alot worse
i work as a product designer, so know there are a hell of alot of regulations (most products need certificates from a test lab before they even get to market) so i cant believe that this got onto the market - but just wanted to make sure that if anyone else had one at home they knew about this - i will update if / when i hear back from the manufacturer / asda0 -
thanks for the heads up and glad your cat is ok x0

Wow it is true, every single thread on this board ends up advocating neutering...
(glad the cat is OK! As owner of a very stupid cat, I'm very glad this didn't have a worse outcome)0 -
