Imperial Measurement Guttering

A few bits of my guttering has cracked and it really needs replacing before the winter. However parts we've bought from B&Q etc., don't fit.

I've been told by B&Q that all guttering is now sold in metric measurements and you cannot buy imperial guttering anymore, so I need to replace the whole lot with metric.

Is this true?
Here I go again on my own....

  • Could be, I've been trying to source 2 1/2" (65mm) black or grey plastic downpipe without success. In the end I had to replace a section from and including a hopper with 68mm pipe and use the length removed to fit in place of a broken section from my garage roof. That roof has all Imperial stuff so no doubt somewhere in the future it will eventually need replacing with 112mm guttering and 68mm downpipe.
I think all this resizing of stuff is a big con to ensure that consumers have to renew things every few years to the new improved standard/dimensions!!

not all manufacturers guttering and downpipes are compatible anyway. You should have a mark on your existing gutter/downpipe on a fitting somewhere.
