Hi all.
I have just had a new fridge delivered. The instructions are pretty basic but do not mention installation guidelines.
Are you meant to leave the fridge for 6 hours upright before pluggin in, then another few hours to let it reach its optimum temperature?
Any advice?
Thanks

That's an old wives tale about leaving them standing stemming back from the days of ammonia absorption units. These were the 'turn it upside down overnight' to fix it variety.
With modern units there is no need to let them stand. There was once the view the oil may 'clog the pipes' and need to drain back into the compressor sump, but the reality is this is mostly untrue.
Some delivery people *tell* you to leave it standing for a good reason....so they have time to get in their van and vanish - in case you find it does not work!
Plug it in and have confidence! Make sure there is sufficient air circulation around the condenser (large black grill on the back) and that it is not touching the wall. Should make temperature of 3 degrees in under an hour.

I have no technical knowledge but I generally leave it overnight, it's been around the world in a container and chucked on and off vehicles in the UK, err on the side of caution.
It won't hurt anything to leave it overnight but will do wonders fr your peace of mind. Just let any fluid drain back down to the compressor and you will be fine.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
