After a few years of doing everything but getting serious I am at full attention at getting my balance down. Need a little help on what to do:

Card 2 at 12% $2,400 been trying to pay $200 a month on this a month
Card 3 at 12% $7,200 been trying to pay $300 a month on this a month
Total Debt $11,800 Had for 3 years now after starting at $15,000
Need some real help on what to do or how to get down
? Thanks a bunch~

Hi zeke,
You might be better posting this on the debt free wannabe boards where people will be able to give you more specialised help. Without going into too much detail here, the first thing that strikes me is if you could find a way to reduce the aprs on your cards, perhaps by applying for a new card with a low life of balance transfer rate or a 0% deal for the longest time you can find but only you know what your credit rating is likely to be and whether this is an option for you. In the short term you could try phoning the cards customer loyalty/retention depts and asking to have the apr on your existing cards lowered. This might work if you 'threaten' to take you business elsewhere (although you don't actually have to leave - just 'threaten' to). Have a look at the snowball calculator to see how long it will take to clear your balances at their present repayment and interest rate too Link below. Good luck.

I notice you use Dollar signs. Are you in America? As this is a UK site, it might be quite difficult to suggest alternative cards for you.0
