Dell V Acer on service.

I was just interested to know who, in your opinion, was the better company especially with warranties etc..... If a fault goes wrong with the laptop who has the faster turnaround and is better in dealing with the customer.

Ta in advance!

I've heard good and bad things about both. In my experience, I have had nothing but good service from Dell. Always helpful on the phone, replacement parts sent out next day and engineer support next day.

If you read further down this topic, there is comments about the Acer service too (v. Fujitsu)

I can say that my recent experience with Dell has been excellent.

A 26" LCD I bought via MSE last Nov went fiz on Thursday lunchtime, rang Dell, the wait on the phone (0870 grrrrr) was six minutes but then two fella's obviously from Scotland dealt with the problem. The call was routed via India back to the UK and I would say their phone system was not the best.

Both very helpful and because they had no 26" LCD's in stock they sent me out the latest 32" !! fully spec'd with HDMI which retails at over £1000, omg its amazing, and the 26" only cost me £363, great deal or what.

It was on the desk by 08:45 the next day, thats what I call good customer service, the delivery guy said he was a techie/warranty man for for a number of IT companies. He said Dell were the best to deal with, I agreed 10/10 for Dell.

the longer the better but you will pay for it
  • You could buy the same laptop from the Acer shop site, it costs £20 more but they price match, and thier extended warranty is quite a bit cheaper (about £65 for 3 years.)

Yeah i was thinking about that but i cant afford to get the warranty with the laptop at the moment. I think i am correct in saying that you can buy it up to 3 months after?

  • Where I work they use both acer and hp laptops. I have just bought a dell (found service excellent). i was warned by our IT department to avoid acer as the service when something goes wrong is poor. A local independent IT shop said the same thing about acer (and they were selling acer laptops)

Try phoning the acer service line and you will see what I mean.

    Hope this helps.

This either means waiting for hours for someone to answer or its a call centre thats not based in the UK?
