Travel Insurance yet again!!

Can anyone assist with recommendations for the following:
European Cover for couple aged 64/65 for 90 days annual multi trip.
My brain is in a whirl after looking at numerous websites and we have a further problem in that, we usually fly budget airlines booking one way flights, which appears to invalidate ALL sections of travel insurance with some companies.
The flight cancellation/baggage cover/hotel cover is not important to us as we have a small holiday home in Spain - what is important is the medical cover/repatriation cover. What do the forum members think about just obtaining Medical Cover Insurance and any recommendations in that direction.
Thanks for your attention

I think that would be a big mistake, but each to their own.
If you want to do it on the cheap you do not have to have any medical cover. An EHIC card, will cover you for any emergency treatment here in spain.
Where about in spain is your holiday home? I would recommend you check out your local health care facilities. I hope you know how to summon assistance if and when?
Unfortunately I have had to use my local hospital and I was very surprised at the quality of service:T. Far better than when I last visited a UK hospital."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks for your reply missile.
Yes I have to agree with you with regards to the standard of health care in Spain. In June this year I broke my 5th metatarsal and underwent an operation at Torrevieja Hospital to insert a pin to realign the bone, this was followed up by treatment at our local salud in Torre de la Horadada. All the above was covered by my EHIC. Since arriving back in the UK I had to visit our local hospital and as you say, the service was far superior in Spain.
The extra medical insurance I was thinking about was mainly to cover repatriation (rather than looking for a cheap option) should the necessity ever arise ! Due to the fact that we book one way air tickets repatriation appears to be voided in most policies.
Our place is in Torre de la Horadada on the Alicante/Murcia border - whereabouts are you ?0 -
We are in Ciudad Quesada and have friends in Pillar de la Horadada.
I fell off my motorcycle, broke quite a few bones and spent nearly three weeks in Torrevieja hospital.
As you say, most policies will not cover you for repatriation if you have a one way ticket. In your circumstances, I feel sure it would be possible but may be difficult and rather expensive to get insurance for medical repatriation only. I would suggest you speak to a good broker."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
