My dress is from Debenhams and as I wanted red I have a bridesmaids/prom dress! I have made my cake - then my lovely nana gave me £40 for it (it has cost me about £10 more than this as I am getting someone to ice it for me!). I will be doing my own flowers so they will be cheap. We may have a weekend away as a honeymoon but as we both work in schools we are back at work on the Monday! So a weekend it will be! Have done my own favours, am getting married at the reception venue so am not having a car. H2b's suit came from a factory clearance place! I have 3 pairs of shoes (all bought in sales) for less than the normal price of the cheapest one. My cousin is doing my hair and make-up. A friend is doing the balloons for the tables at cost price! I can probably keep going! My venue is costing £2500 and the rest, so far, is about £1000!!!
  • I'd probably go for food, by having a late afternoon wedding and a buffet in the evening, therefore only needing to feed everyone once.

That said I'm going to try and be as frugal as I can when I do get married - my dress will be high street or made by my dad's cousin, and I'm only planning to have one bridesmaid/best woman. There'll probably be other things too. The only things that I won't be allowed to compromise on will be a photographer and a free bar.

Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")
