Are there any Natwest bank employees out there who can tell me if Natwest would still have a record of the payment details (sort code and account number) for a standing order which was last paid in 1996 and started in 1979.
It's all explained in another thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2644797

i think from a legal stand point, the statute of limitations says that you can only go back 6 years when claiming things....so I wouldnt expect them to keep records for much longer than that.Debts at LBM (May '08) £5760 - Lloyds CC £4260, Lloyds OD £1500;Debts as of May 28th 2011:Santander CC: £0.00Lloyds OD : £0.00DFW Nerd #1247 - Proudly dealt with my Debts

All those records will probably be printed out and stored in a barn somewhere
I have seen some strange "secure storage areas" in my working life and have seen this with my own eyes.
Haven't seen yours though and good luck finding it."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -

haha so true, but usually storage warehouses then barsn for banks lol then come the magic 6 years, mass shredding takes place.
although most bigger business' have moved to electronic records now anyway.
i'm pretty sure banks and most institutions keep their records by the legal record keeping minimum as required by law(hmrc)She LEFT me, she LIED, and she made me foot the BILL ! :mad:0
