* I want to return a 8 day old phone *

Thing is, it's my own fault.

I made an assumption that the answering machine had a day/time stamp on it, but it does not.

Hubby took it out of box and set it up a few days ago, but I've just realised this.

Will Argos exchange it? Reason I'm asking is it says you can exchange/refund in unused condition. I do know people have exchanged used items in the past, but not sure if the rules have changed, hence them adding on the 'in unused condition' part.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

  • If you have your reciept, the box and all the packaging you should not have a problem. Just make sure that you package the phone and contents back in the box to the same standard you recieved it.
  • Thanks for that! Will give it ago today.

    I wouldnt worry you shouldnt have any problems getting a refund or exchange , Argos will then most likely sell your 8 day old used phone as brand new :D

    I think what you meant to say was as long as you dont go in there giving them attitude or changing ur story every 5 minutes like some people do then they wont have a problem giving you a refund. :D

    Eh? why tell them it's broke.... phones are covered by the 16 day aren't they? Also didn't someone post about them not giving them there money back and sending it away for repair instead on a phone recently?
  • Just go in and tell them that it is not what you expected you are not satified with the quality they will then return it as a 16 day return. Dont go in and tell them that it is faulty when it isnt, 15 million items were returned last year that were not faulty but returned as if they were, this is an added cost that is obvioulsy added on to you as customers. Just be honest and see what happens. Hope you are successful

    Thanks for all the replies.

    I had no intention of claiming the phone was broken! I got an exchange no problems, just paid the extra fiver.

    I just told the lady that it didn't have a day/time stamp on the answering machine, she said no problem and exchanged it!! Great work Argos!
