Nat West Homeloans want 7 working days to release funds and in recent months whenever we have tried to lean on them to tell whether the money is coming or to get it to us more quickly they have stonewalled and told us we will have to wait.

HSBC's papers now tell solicitors they want 10 working days for release of funds!

HSBC have recently revised there turn around to 7 days (inc weekends). The original 2 weeks was unworkable - albeit I did once get funds next day from them with a LOT of begging.

mortgage works are annoying - unlike nationwide direct, they leave you on hold for about 20 minutes and don't give you a fax number with their paperwork

    slighlty off topic I know...

    any update?

  • Hi all,

GOOD NEWS - we have exchanged contracts today - still can't believe it !!!

18 months of hell ..... too long to go into .........

So we were meant to move today Friday 13th but if not by then our Vendors on holiday until 3rd Sept ( 3 weeks sitting amongst boxes with 2 kiddies under 6 - what joy !!!).

Miracously they have come up with alternative date for NEXT TUESDAY (apparently family moving their possessions from the house so we hope that all goes smoothly !!!)

so all being well we will finally be in our new home by then ...... still disappointed by our Solicitor, who I still feel did not do as much as she could for us and even had the cheek to get offended when Buyers Solicitor would not return her call but WOULD speak to our IFA !!!!! I think there was a final lack of respect there as she was so wet !!!!

Anyway, time to look forwards and forget all about this experience - would go for childbirth over it any time !!!!

Congratulations! We had a very nervous wait when buying our house in February - we ended up exchanging and completing on the same day.

Picture this - sitting with a one year old and two year old in a room surrounded by all our worldly possessions in boxes, with the removal van parked outside, empty, waiting for a phone call to say we had exchanged. That was a tense couple of hours I can tell you! Then getting to the estate agents to collect the keys only to be told that we had completed on our sale, but not on our purchase! Then the call came to say that we had finally completed our purchase. For 2 hours we owned nothing! Never again!!!

Good luck in your new home. All the best.
:o Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!! :o

well done Potty. Are you going to join the rest of us over on the renovations thread now?

forget about the solicitor now. It's done and almost dusted. all she has to do now is make sure the monies get moved around on Tuesday.

Hope you have good weather on Tuesday - don't want your stuff getting wet
