Right here's the situation as it stands...

She basically googled Abercrombie and fitch and thought there was a UK site, at the time the third google result was for what looked like their site, same logo, style etc. On closer inspection of their T&C's and spelling errors in some places it's clear it's a chinese knock off site, one of many it seems when you google A&F.

So she's placed an order, a sizeable amount of money unfortunately. Now here are their T&C's which I've taken note of..

Obviously this is their T&C disclaimer they are not genuine, sadly she had no reason to think about a scam site so didn't look through it..

"Our merchandise are not manufactured by the authentic brand companies, but are made with manufacturing facilities that the origin brand companies utilize, such as the durable materials, professional craftsmanship and custom color way. Our products do not mean poor quality. They are made following the standard of original ones, almost tells no different to the original ones, We have an excellent reputation on the Internet for selling Brand T-shirts, jeans and other clothing. You are all satisfied with the quality products from us. If you are not sure of our offers, you can place a sample order to check first."

We also have this on their returns and exchange policy, easier to link directly..

http://www.anfoutlet.com/return-and-exchange

So it would seem she should be able to return them if she doesn't unwrap them. My concern is that they will either claim not to have recieved the items, even if we send tracked. Or that they will claim they are not in a resellable condition despite being unopened. They have no address on-site, only an email contact form which she has emailed yesterday when she became aware it wasn't the genuine article as it was being shipped from China, not the UK as their description suggests...(clearly terrible grammar, but alas too late for that obvious hint.).

Established in June 2000, Our company is one of UK's largest independent online fashion and beauty retailer. All kinds of products available and 1000 new lines added each week, ANFOutler.com is rapidly becoming the market leader in the UK online fashion world. Aimed primarily at fashion forward 16-34 year olds, ANFOutler.com attracts over 6.3 million unique visitors a month and has 2.8 million registered

Now she ordered the clothes over 10 days ago, their shipping estimate states 7 to 10 days, no goods have arrived yet. According to negative reviews(other folks realizing their mistakes) they are real, just obviously they send very poor quality clothing.

Sorry for the long post folks, just getting all the information down. So basically assuming she receives them, she contacts them and she sends them back, is their anything we can do if they try and worm their way out of their T&C's, or make no further contact? Sadly I assume there's probably no recourse as they're based in China...

How did she pay and what value are we talking about here?

visa debit card, so obviously no credit card protection BUT I believe VISA offers a similar type of protection to it's debit cards(as in trying to get cash back).

Value was almost £200 I believe, so...a rather high amount.

Just calculated from date of purchase excl weekends, tomorrow would be day 10. So we'll see if anything does arrive this week I think.

I'm so hoping either this place does do legit returns or we can sort something out for her. I'm so angry right now, it's not that companies fault mind. So as long as they honour their T&C's I'll be happy, if not I'll not let this thing go, she's starting to just blame herself and accept she's not going to be able to sort it out all and get a refund. I'll take over the fight if I have too.

Why would they honour the T's and C's when they rip off other people's intellectual property rights?

I'm afraid that unless she paid by credit card she has been ripped off.

But on the bright side, not as badly ripped off as the child labour that manufactured the products.

I know I don't seem to be able to get it now, but she said at the time when she googled A&F outlet it was right near the top...

I get this if I do A&F outlet UK as the top result, and it also appears to be a Chinese site...

aye, really frustrating this...though I wouldn't be surprised if Abercrombie themselves dabble in the same labour market, they'd just have better quality control. (more hitting children when they miss a stitch..)

Very much doubt they would be involved with child labour - far, far too much to lose.

just to say after about 10 emails, they've stated if we return the goods they will refund us in full.

Now obviously I'm doubtful, but I see this as our best option. Reason being that if we post them tracked and they claim they didn't get them or only refund us a small gesture amount, we have more of a case to ask VISA to do a charge back, as right now they technically haven't ripped us off.

So I'm posted it tomorrow for her, via a tracked method and with the few £ extra for more insurance on the package.

I won't hold my breath, but wish us luck folks.

Well, from the description of the products it does sound like they are the product of a 'ghost shift' (where the official manufacturers produce unauthorised extra products to sell on the black market), so if you do get the products they might not be all that bad.

Still, it's probably best to go down the Visa chargeback route and see where you get
