UK Break for October please

We are looking for a short break in October somewhere please. Live in North West and don't want to go too far as have 2 kids aged 3 and 1. Any ideas? No idea how to find cheap UK deals on the net. I am aware the weather probably won't be great but would just like a few days/ a week away for a change. Blackpool? Lakes? Anyone any ideas and where I can find a deal?

My first thought when I saw the title of the thread was "The Lake District"! Definitely go there........ and send me a postcard We love it and it caters for everyone.. plenty of things to do with children.

For a week, you're probably best looking at a holiday cottage.
