You don't check your credit score as Experian / whoever won't be able to tell you how a lender will rate you. It's just putting your money into a random number generator. Don't bother.

Three days is nowhere near long enough for your ER registration to go through. It takes anything from one month to three or four depending on the time of year.

Have you moved recently? If you have, even once you are on the ER you will be seen as a risk due to the instability of having moved recently.

As verified by your credit reports? Or as informed by local council?
rejected for tesco credit card on 5/8/10.
Have you got a reason from them yet, or are you still waiting to hear (roughly) why they declined you, ie ID issue, over-indebtedness, etc?

Depends on your local council's electoral services department, and the CRAs.
if not, how do i do this?
You need to speak with both of the above to find out when it'll be updated. However, monthly updates tend to be suspended around this time of year (and until December 1st) whilst the borough ER audit is undertaken.

Thanks for the replies. I applied in July and I've just received confirmation from the council I'm on the electoral roll as of 2/8/10. Tesco provided no reason for the rejection. Have lived at address for over 5 years. The only other thing I can think of is lack of credit history.

ER status with the CRAs can take up to 6 weeks - so if you've just registered, they can confirm you around end of September only.

If you'd missed the August deadline, the yearly canvass will be published in December, which is then at the CRAs only in mid-end January...

ER presence is very important for credit, maybe if you can get a written confirmation of this, you could appeal to Tesco in writing.

It's also worth to note that some other creditors may need more from your registration - they either check the yearly registrations only, or want to correlate the address history with the ER data, which will not match for you:o

After the appeal, you may want to wait until end of January for the next application...
    Enjoy the silence...
