I have to agree with that too. We thought friends would take great shots but ended up with 1 friends being very much the same as the others.
Photo's are the only window to your day and so I think everything should be budgeted around them. My opinion. x0 -
i have to disagree too as the photos were our priority aswel. ok we did set a £1000 budget but it was stupid really as we could not afford that in reality so had a more reasonable budget of £500 but we was lucky enough to get one for all day @ £350sammy_wheeler wrote: »i would have to say that i disagree with this statement- photos are my 'priority', but i only had £500 for them, and i found someone, and there are plenty that do it for this price and under. my whole wedding will cost under £4grand, and i am not missing out on anything, and i am having everything i want.

We set a £1000 budget for photos as they would be our only surviving reminder of the day and we really wanted to spend a bit of money on that to make sure they were right. I know that if i got a friend to do it and I wasn't happy with what they had done then I would regret it forever!
We did spend £1000 in the end, but we are getting exactly what we want and after seeing the pre wedding shoot photos he did for us, I am so glad we are getting a professional who knows what they are doing..
Proffesional photographers will make sure your day is recorded as fully as possible, and as nicely as possible... i wouldn't risk getting a friend to do it..
But it is up to you I suppose!
xNow a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage! :beer:0 -
I tried to get quotes for photographers to just come and do a couple of hours and every single one refused as it wasn't worth their while
This is something that worried me and also we're only having 30 people at our wedding, so I can't envision loads of pics of us all!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
we'd budgeted £1000 for our photographer but ended up going over just by a bit mind you!
for that however we're getting
-a full day coverage (brides prep, ceremony, photoshoot, speeches and first dance)
- 14 x 10 duo album (here's a sample... they're the nicest i've seen and i did some serious hunting)
- disk of all the photos high res
- engagement shoot
and i must admit any of the albums our photographer chris has on his website i just love the look and feel of the design and the pictures he takes, i'm really excited about it as this was a biggie for me and the OH. we're both photo nuts and it's what i'm going to look back on to remember so i wanted it to be special and it will!0 -
I budgeted £800 and it's ending up at £1450! Whoops
In my defense it would have been cheaper if my silly H2be hadn't decided he wanted the most expensive album package. His faulty... totally his fault.

Ours are just over £300! I didn't want photos of me getting ready but I do want some very nice photos! Mine does it as a professional hobby - got his name through the council when we booked the service! We were the very first people to get the card and a 10% discount! I found a lot of the large photographers round this area wuite difficult to talk to but Darren wants us to have exactly what we want!0

Initially my OH's brother was going to do our wedding photos (photography / media student) but he's proving to be a bit of a let down so we're back to the drawing board. We've found two possibles - a cousin of a friend who's starting out in photography who charges £300 and a 'real' photographer who charges £450. Both of them are CD only and stay all day.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

Ooh - just to point out that OH's brother OFFERED to do our photos for us. We didn't try and persuade him.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

It's such a minefield isn't it!
OH's dad would prob. do it for us, but he should be in lots of the pics, so while that's OK for later on in the day I don't think it's what we'll want for the ceremony etc.
Just not sure right now!
Ah well there had to be 1 main area that would require some sorting out, didn't there! :rotfl:A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
