No they won't because it is lawful to charge the interest.
However, as we have now found out the charges were not lawful.
If I had any bank charges what so ever (unfortunately I've never had any)
and I found out they were unlawful and I could get them back I certainly would do!, and I'm quite happy that other people have done.0 -

As you say, banks increasing the interest are not breaking a term or condition. But this action is a result of people who HAVE broken them. Whats so special about these people that they should be able to pay late or go over their limits when people like me stick to the terms and conditions?
I'm posting on a thread that specifically mentions interest rates.
Nothing is special about these people, however, if the terms and conditions are ILLEGAL then I have no problem with the consumers taking action. The banks will have known for a long time that they were on very dodgy legal ground, but it didn't stop them from fleecing people.
Anyone who does break the terms and conditions should only have to pay £12 and not the unreasonable £20-£30.0 -
Nobody knows if they are illegal since there has not been a court case, the bandwagon argued that the fees were punitive and disproprotionate. So tell me, what incentive was there to run an account properly? The fact people have been getting hundreds of pounds reimbursed it scandalous as it shows total neglect and respect to managing an account by the terms and conditions.
Also, if these people didnt agree with the terms and conditions, they should never have opened the account. Simple as that really. Nobody was bothered about them when they opened the accounts, so why jump up and down in a stroppy huff when you fail to run the account responsibly?0 -

My god this is difficult!!,
My point is that if you are angry about interest rates rising then don't use credit cards!, don't blame other people for them.
Shall we just agree to disagree?,0 -

Maybe we should. But the fact is I see my current levels of interest as acceptable and will look at other options should mine also increase.
Have a nice afternoon :beer:0 -
