Think Gonzo has summed it up well. Make the Ford Focus your bench mark and see if any cars can beat it.
Seeing the number of focus on the road , you may well fail.

Or may just see sense and buy a more intersting car??

There is nothing wrong with the Focus, just as there is nothing exceptionally right with it.

Comes down to just plain dam boring. ;) Comments wecome :D:D

Focus is a very 'safe' choice, and fine if you see driving and car ownership as a chore. Should be pretty reliable.

If you've given up on life, also consider the meganne scenic, vauxhall astra, or anything german.

If I only had 3k, I'd go for a honda accord or a mazda of some sort.

Consider how big your kids are. I am 5'9 and not comfortable in the rear of a focus or astra. I would probably go for a Mondeo as they really are not *that* big. TBH I would probably go for an older Audi as my personal choice.

A family friend has a garage so I use him, I would suggest you ask friends if they use or recommend an independent dealer

Is this the Ford Focus fan club...lol.
Anyway, when looking for a car for my daughter and boyfriend we looked at the Focus. Unfortunately as previously mentioned there are a lot about. The good ones tend to go very quickly or are well over priced. We ended up buying a 03 plate Seat Leon 1.6 for £2700. Car is very spacious and typical german build quality. (Basically same platform as a Golf and Skoda).

We also looked at the Honda Jazz. Again they seem very pricey. My Mitsubishi Colt is the perfect alternative to the Jazz and was a damn site cheaper to buy, as cheap to run and just as reliable. I like my new car:rotfl:

    Thanks again, any more suggestions?

I had a Focus from the insurance while mine was in the garage, I hated it:(

DH used to cab a Skoda for about 3-4 years, he loved it, cheapest most reliable car he's ever owned.
Have you thought of a Fabia.

    Or get a 4x4:D
