iPad - a triumph of style over function?

  • I know a few ipad users who've stopped playing with them and realised it's only good for the occasional game.

By the end of the year / Q1 next year, there will be a load of Android iPad clones that cost under 150 quid. They'll all play flash, have slots for memory cards, multitask, sing and dance.

MrOink.. you're kids will like those tablets as they'll all play farmville (so glad i stopped using it) and Youtube

And yes, i've used an ipad
  • The ipad looks awkward to use, and it's inevitable that apple will release a better one in a years time. So I'd say don't buy one!

True, but in 12 months there'll be another one 12 months down the line. It's the nature of technology. You wouldn't buy anything if you're always waiting for the newer version.

And native Flash... {rather than custom trashy hacks} ?

I did not think so eh? Still, HTML 5 is coming - just like IPv6 :rotfl:

I sold my netbook to part fund the iPad and not regretted that once. When the MkII is announced, I'll likely Ebay and upgrade, Apple kit keeps its value so I should get a years use for £150.

If they are running Android 2.2 (Froyo), then it'll be Flash player 10.1 - http://blogs.adobe.com/labs/archives/2010/06/flash_player_10_12.html

Not that much of a hack if it's supported by Adobe

But the thread is about the IPAD and my point was specifically about the IPAD and it's inability to run FLASH - hence my confusion at your comment.

Glad to hear Android will support it :-) Personally, if I wanted a £700 paperweight, I'd buy something more attractive than an Ipad - but each to his/her own.

There is a very nice virtual fish pond app - doesn't that tempt you at all? You can poke your finger in and scare the fish.....
