System Restore From Dos

hi

does anybody know how to scan a disk for errors from DOS

or how to do a system restore from DOS.

    simply type "scandisk c:" assuming "C" is the Hardrive.

    there is no System Restore I know of in DOS, however heres a good link for DOS http://www.ka.net/jmenees/Dos/Dos.htm thank me if it helps ;)

    Just find the file within DOS and type "DEL (FOLDER)"

  • Assuming we're talking about a DOS prompt from within Windows XP (as you mention System Restore)

    CHKDSK will check a disk for errors. Type CHKDSK /? at a command prompt for more details

    A proper uninstall can only be done from Windows as you need to remove files installed in various places such as C:\Windows as well as the main directrory and registry entries.

    or search the techie forum for chkdsk for other diagnostics you can do, and linux boot disks.

    (assuming you are talking about the same XP problem?)
