Laptop not reading dvds

My laptop isn't reading dvds from the Region 2.. It is a brand new Alienware and I'm not sure what's wrong, it says DVD Copy Protect in Windows Media Player...

I checked the region settings on the drive and it was set to 1, so I changed it back to 2 and still not working, it doesn't even work with AnyDVD.

I bought a REGION FREE external cd writer too, and it doesn't read it on that too.

I put it into my desktop which is a few years old and it works fine, same with dvd player. The problem is not with all dvds just some..

I would appreciate some help!

Try using a different media player on your machine.

Get vlc media player - should work.

Also, can you set your region code on your drive to 0, making it region free?

Nope don't have that option. Didn't work in VLC.

search DVD DECRYPTER, it will extract all the files FROM the DVD whilst making it region free.

you can then watch with vlc on the pc and/or convert to a blank dvdr
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
