Best places to sell car?

I'm selling my car (:j and :( at the same time - i need the money and I don't need the car, but there's nothing wrong with it!)

Where are the best places to list it to get the best price?

I'm listing up on Piston heads as that is a good place i've heard and the car owners club (though I don't expect much from that).

I'm going to do the local paper as i've had sucess there in the past. I'm not going to bother with autotrader as they're expensive and the two times i've done it before I didn't get a single response.

Where is the best place to list then please!!

  • Gumtree and Ebay.

People are not going to pay a lot these days as are short of cash and many cars available.
  • What sort of car are we talking about, old heap or something newish?
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • If it's still mot'd, taxed and insured, put a sign on it and park it near to a main road if it's possible.
Put the price on it though, as a general rule of thumb, if someone doesnt put a price on it, they want too much.
  • Be careful of that, it is an offence to try to sell a car on a public road, my cousin got his towed away and crushed by the council!!

Only if you are a trader, its not an offence for a private individual.

If you are looking for quick, hassle-free and safe sale, I would recommend using a 'cash for cars' website.

The best I find is CarArena.co.uk because this works like a comparison website in the way that you only enter your details once, yet receive a number of of offers from their network of dealers.

Best of all it is totally free.

DealerBid.co.uk is another good one, but this now charges you £5 for adding your details!

    Good luck.
