How easy will it be to get one for an L reg Corsa please. DD lost her keys early this morning and as of yet can't get through to speak to a human where she's sure they were lost. Don't think she will be able to until tomorrow anyway. We also know she should have had a spare one It's just one of those things she didn't get around to:o Thanks

On an L reg I dont believe they had transponder chips for an immobiliser. Would mean new ignition barrel, new door locks (front and boot) and doing it yourself over a day or paying someone to do it, can get these bits from a scrappy. Im not sure, but if you could get one of the locks out there might be a firm that could take a mould of the lock and produce a key for it? I dont know, never done it before.

The plus point is the L reg's didnt come with immobilisers, or at least mine didnt, so you dont have to worry about the Transponder chips which would be a visit to VX or a Tech2 machine to reprogram it, which aint cheap ;)

the keycode should still be on file with vauxhall,if you go local dealer you can pay for a security pass they can normally get info fairly quick.you can then get them to cut key to the key number, this assumes it has same locks as from factory, work out a lot cheaper than new locks,as above no immobiliser on L reg think they started fitting them in about 1995/6.

this is how you could get keys when i worked for vaux security pass was £10 then things could have changed but worth asking at dealer see what they say.

Thank you both. DH has just reminded me that there is an immobilser as well:o I've found the key card for that but it's old so the phone number on the back doens't look right and it just says The Immobiliser on it. Arrghh, teenagers. She doesn't normally take her car keys with her if she's not drving:mad:

That's what we're hoping but have checked and of course they're not open until tomorrow now. I've just informed her she's going to have to get a bus or train to work and of course here they don't run at times where they will get her near to work at a good time. It's either 50 minutes early or 15 minutes late.

If you have the key number just go to a decent key cutter or locksmith's shop and ask if they can "cut by code" they will be able to make one form this number.

The immobiliser key (a funny shaped thing) is in addition to the doors/ignition key. Would they be able to help on both fronts. Sorry if I'm being really dense:o

I doubt it, For cheapness I would ask an auto sparky to bypass it.

agreed, the aftermarket immobiliser will link in to fuel pump and maybe ignition circuit.very easy to bypass once you know where the box is.

It's easier to find the wires they cut into IMO, often the wires at the immobiliser unit will all be black and it won't be clear which wire cuts into which, or which provides power and ground to the immobiliser.
