Am I worrying for nothing????

I can't help buy worry about my BR on Monday morning.I know everyone says it's not as bad as they thought it would be but I still can't help it! My main worry is the judge not making me bankrupt and then thinking what the hell do I do now.yes it's my fault for my debt (£29000) I have been so careless and spent money on all kinds of rubbish.

ahh the waiting is awful. did you take advice? the judge may ask you and would turn you down if you hadn't
i can't think of any other reason so stop worrying....but i was the same....
so long as your forms are filled out and you have the fee in cash?
you'll be out of there before you know it on Monday...0 -
If you have taken proper advice from one of the debt charities then the judge won't have any qualms in granting your petition.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

I was worried too about going to court but it wasn't as bad as I thought - the staff were very friendly and helpful. I can't see why the judge would not make you bankrupt if you cant pay your debts he just had a quick look through our paperwork, asked if we had been to the CAB and that was it - he didnt go into the debts ect just wished us luck for the future, we had to go BR after my hubby lost his job then we had our house repossessed0

Yes I took advice from cccs so time for me to grab that thought and throw it away! Thank you to all...0

It will be OK Frank, just wait and see. We will all be cheering you on in spirit, so just think of us all, holding your hand in court (don't squeeze TOO hard...;)).
Remember that the court staff don't know you personally - they're just there to deal with financial stuff, so they won't be thinking you are an awful person. BR is not the stigma it was years ago and (sadly) it is a route that many, many people are having to take, so you're by no means an isolated case. The court staff are there to do their jobs and they are, pretty much, paid to help you sort out these issues and not to make you feel like a squashed tomato.
I do know how wretched you feel, believe me. But Monday will be the beginning of a whole new start for you and you can be proud that you have been brave enough to tackle your debts.
Sending you lots of hugs (plus licks from Jasper-dog... yuk!
) and all the good wishes in the world for Monday. What time is your hearing? - So I can remember to keep my fingers crossed for you at the appointed hour.
Let us know how it goes; I'm sure you will be alright, and will feel tonnes better when it's done. x

Thanks ruth (and jasper the dog). I'm booked in at 09:00 on Monday.I filled out the forms online and have done 3 copies, got the cash (is it £600 or £650?) so o hope it all correct.if there are any problems with the forms is there any time to change them there? And is there anything else I need to take?0

they check through the forms when you get there and can make amendments there and then don't worry
it's £600
just take some change for the drinks machine, and a paper in case you have to wait
we'll be thinking of you x0 -
I was the same as you this time last week, my appointment was last monday.
I was very very scared. Everyone on here said its not as bad as you think and they are right.
I had to go to the court office where the clerk, a nice lady, checked through my forms and made a couple of small changes. She took the payment and gave me a recepit.
She then explaned that I would have to see the judge, but it would be a very quick interview.
I then had to wait about 30 mins to see the judge.
When I went in to see him he was quite friendly and said he had read my forms and that my story was not uncommon these days. He checked that I had taken advice and asked if I had any questions and that was it. In there about 5 mins.
Then had to go back to court officce to be given the order and some leaflets about what you can and cant do etc.
I then had a quick call from th OR office later that day. Im now waiting to get my letter telling me a date for the telephone interview.
Was in the court building about a hour and a half in all but most of it was waiting.
Its not the best experince of my life butit really isnot any where as bad as you think honestly.
Im now waiting to get the interview over with.
Good luck for tomorrow.0 -
Good luck for tomorrow - I know at this stage there isn't much I can say to convince you that everything will be okay but it WILL! I'm sure you'll come back here tomorrow saying you didn't know what all the fuss was about. It really is a simple procedure - you've already been through all the hard part of bankruptcy ie the leading up to it is by far the most painful!

Good luck tomorrow. Its not that bad honestly. Me and hubby (but me mostly) stressed over it, but it was fine. Our appointment was 9am, and we were home drinking tea and coffee by 10.30, having spoken to or's assistant on the phone at the court, and called co-op to advise that no interest in our cashminder account!!!
We didnt even have to see the judge, we are 5 months in, and so far our house has been sorted etc, and our or has applied for release of duties as trustee.
