Free car price checker?

Hello there,
We've just been to a Renault dealer as we would like a Renault Scenic and part exchange our Clio. new baby comes with a mountain of stuff, dont they .... need bigger boot!!!!
But I would like to check on the quote he gave us (think it's a bit high) for the Scenic and so far the car price checker I found ask for a fee.. does anybody know a free one? I shall try haggling although not sure if i'm good at it..:(..
Thanks in advance

I'm sure the AA or the RAC have a web page that details approx price of cars with breakdowns of the trade in value, the private sale value and the second hand retail value of all cars in fair, good and excellent condition. If I find the site I'll post it here but off hand cann't remember.

Sorry started the post about an hour ago and got distracted, so the above post has the same sort of thing I was talking about, and is probably what you're looking for.

    parkers is definately the best!
very comprehensive and thorough in its analysis.

you might liek to try https://www.whatcar.co.uk too

  • first of all - are you buying a new or used scenic?
and what are the details of your clio?

whatcar.com does a free quotation - however, i would take 300 quid of thier valuations.

i know of a few delaers doing very competitve delas on nearly new and new scenics.

big tip - dont purchase a mark 1 scenic for any more than 5 grand.
you will ose money hand over fist.
a few fleets are calling theirs in and the auction houses will have a few going through up to april.

if your buying a mark 2 (new shape) - if used, when test driving takre it on the motorway. take it to 75 and see if their is excess noise. ive heard (although must be fair - not seen) of the rubbers being nackered early on and car noise to be intrusive. check that every electrical component works. migh be worth avoiding very early models.

also, dont buy one without air con (i tihink they all have it any how).

:o my car is so old that none of those sites will give me a price ... except maybe Parkers, but they're asking for money!

Is there anywhere I can get a rough idea of what I might get on a good day for a 1993 (K reg) Saab 9000 CSE Turbo, 1985 cc petrol engine, tatty, hatchback

Or shall I annoy the dealer and insist they take it in P/X even though they won't give me more than £100? I don't really want a lot of hassle selling it if it's not worth a lot ... which it isn't.

I'll head off to Honest John before long but I've probably annoyed them enough for one day ...
