I think the question is why wouldn't you?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Why the heck not? I'll freeze and re-use virtually anything if it has a use. Mash, gravy (though its more of a sauce) both freeze and reheat very well.
Edit: I think I understand your problem now. With those matched betting winnings you're probably paying someone to peel your spuds for you...:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls
I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

Seriously?
Well, I live alone and consider it to be wasteful of time and energy to only ever cook one portion of anything.
When I want mash or gravy (or soup, or mince or chilli or bolognese etc) I always cook at least 4 portions and then freeze the extra so it can be quickly reheated at a later date. Frozen mash can also be used for a cottage/shepherds/fish pie.
So there's one reason someone would freeze cooked potato and gravy.0 -
why not? if its homemade and not packet carp or previously frozen? I freeze portions of mash and gravy (separately) all the time. always got something to eat or feed the babies with, in the freezer. and for some reason it tastes better reheated!0

When you cook some chips from frozen thats it, they have now been cooked and so are done.
Sticking ''already cooked'' food like chips, spaghetti, pizza into the freezer after having cooked it will just give you a driedup frozen lump of very dry manky food.
I am actually shocked at how some of the people on here find doing stuff like that 'normal'.
Can you really not afford the extra few pence that itd cost in electricty to use the oven 7x per week instead of 3x??
I think you're missing the point. People aren't talking about cooking and freezing pre-frozen food like chips. I agree, they would be nasty, but freezing leftovers from a meal/extra portions is quite normal!
Again, that's not really the point. I live on my own, so like Apollonia, when I cook something, I generally make extra with the intention of freezing it. Why would I mess about making one portion of cottage pie for example, when I can make 4+ and freeze the rest of it?
It seems pointless to me switching the oven on for one item so I make the most of the oven when I do use it, but I suppose we all think differently.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
