First Choice. Is it worth complaining?

I have just returned from a holiday in Menorca booked with First Choice. The hotel had Air Conditioning (as advertised) but it did not work correctly, Everyone complained and it is now cropping up on 90% of the reviews.
Having Air conditioning was important because if food had been bad we could have eaten out, if the pool had been dirty we could have used an alternative pool, but we were stuck with no air conditioning. I have sent First Choice an email complaint (the hotel and their rep are fully aware) They say they will investigate and reply within 28 days.
Have I wasted my time?
I cannot see how I could value, quantify or justify any losses for sleepless nights and red hot siestas.
Any advice would be appreciated.

    Well we have just returned from Menorca and have to say our room had air conditioning but we did not have it on at night at all as we did the first night and it proved too cold with it on. We had more of a sleepless night with it on than we did without it.

    Where were you and can you name the hotel?

  • I once complained to First Choice following a holiday to Tenerife, whilst they initially offered us a £150 voucher off another holiday with them, I refused this saying it was unacceptable and I wanted 80% of the holiday cost back - they ended up giving me 50% back.

    If you felt unhappy enough to complain about your holiday, even if nothing comes of it, at least you have said your piece!

    Oh and its standard practice to require time to investigate, 28 days is fairly reasonable and they could have said anything up to three months!

    just read some of the reviews and have to say someone on there is claiming the average temps have been 46 degrees which I would say is not the case. We have just returned from there and it was hot but no-where near those temps.

    Would say you should complain though - if you have not got what you thought you were paying for then that's not right. I would say no to any vouchers they may offer you in compensation though. You have paid in cash for something you did not get and want cash back.
