Capital One - Balance transfer "purchase"?

Just noticed something very sneaky on my statement, wanting to know if I've worked this out correctly or not...
My most recent Balance Transfer appears on my statement like this:
Merchant Information: BALANCE TRANSFER
Transaction Type: Balance transfer purchase
...to which I'm thinking - what the...?!?
Are they trying to fleece me in interest by making out that this is a "purchase" AND a "balance transfer"?
How very sneaky of them.
