My OH works for a well known fast food restaurant and I'm facebook friends with a few people he works with but don't really know any of them.. I woke up this morning to a vile message
*I don't really want to post it as it's pretty graphic/sexual*
but my name was tagged in it as was my other half's. So all my friends and family could see I was tagged in it.
It was posted from the company computer, but they're saying they can't do anything to this individual despite the comments. Surely if it's logged on their computer and can be proven it's from their computer, they should take some degree of responsibility? Even if it' just to tap the idiot who wrote it on the hand and tell him not to use the computer for this purpose. I'm absolutely livid, I've detagged myself and removed him from friends list, but it's still up there and public for all to see.. I'm so embarassed it's unreal...
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask..

it depends on their internet policy, if they allow people to use it for their own use then as long as it is not legal I can't see them having any responsibility for what their employee does on it.
However this is highly unlikely so maybe your OH would want to get a copy of the handbook and see what their internet policy is and go from thereThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Apparently posting the message came up as a dare devised while they were supposed to be working but apparently the manager doesn't really care. Their headoffice shut about 20 minutes early so can't call them. I just thought a company would care about slanderous comments about their own employees posted from their computer.. but the company have proved me wrong.Slimming World: 1stone 11lbs lost in 11 weeks0

I think slander is the spoken word whereas what you are on about is libel. The company is highly likely to have procedures in place for computer use etc so this is the route you need to go down.
Bear in mind that unless you have the backing of your OH that this could cause him problems further down the line. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Have his backing, but his managers refusing to get involved at all. Eg: refused to even sit down with OH to discuss it.
Their policy states:
The restaurants telephone, computer systems and emails are for business purposes only unless otherwise permitted by managers. Any alleged abuse of this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, including dismisal.
So surely it is their problem. Because he shouldn't have been on facebook without permission from a manager?Slimming World: 1stone 11lbs lost in 11 weeks0 -

Goto their HO and comlpain that way. It may make them tighten their rules up some more.
What do you want from the company? The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Write to the hq of the fast food chain and send it via next day delivery so you can track it0

Well at first I just wanted their support to get it deleted, but now I'm really angry at the store manager & think he should at least have a refresher in store policy!
He shouldn't be a manager if he's not going to be helpful and resolve problems for staff surely?Slimming World: 1stone 11lbs lost in 11 weeks0 -
