Because of the wonderfull british summer time I would like some kind of waterproof thing to cover the decking. I've looked at traditional awnings but they have to fixed to a wall. Ours will go from the fence at the bottom of the garden over the top of the decking with the fence that seperates us from the neighbours making up one side and the other being open.
My OH is very DIY handy and is talking about putting up removable supports on the side and at the front.
Has anyone any ideas, or have done this and can put up a picture to give me an example??

We thought about a gazebo but wanted something we could just fasten along the fence, I've found somewhere that sells Tarpulin so we're gonna measure that out to see what it'll be like (if it ever stops raining):beer:0

What you've described sounds like a breeze will have it halfway down the street taking your fence with it. It's going to behave like the sail on a boat..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

My daughter's nursery has one of these above its decking area and it looks very stylish.

This one can be screwed to the decking: -

You could develop the sail idea yourself, use galvanised scaffolding poles instead of the poles on that site (half the price) and get a sail made out of canvas by a company such as http://www.canvas-tarps.co.uk/0
